OPEN SPINAL SURGICAL PROCEDURES

Course Overview Highlights

This comprehensive 2-day course is a presentation of simple and complex operative open approaches in spinal surgery. Experts on the subject will present the anatomical and technical aspects of this procedure along with risks, benefits and outcomes.

The course features interactive lecture sessions, fresh anatomical specimen dissection (including cadaveric skills stations, anatomical models, and state-of-the-art equipment), training videos, and case presentations.  Participants will have an opportunity to enhance their knowledge regarding simple and complex approaches to the spine.

This course is sponsored by the Department of Neurological Surgery, All India Institute of Medical Sciences for Continuing Education in the Health Sciences.

Educational Objectives

This workshop has been designed to provide the orthopedic surgeons, spine surgeons and Neurosurgeons with the opportunity to enhance their own skills in a variety of surgical approaches to spine. Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Incorporate various techniques into their approach for cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine surgery.
  • Identify the indications, results and potential complications for these procedures.
