Course Overview Highlights

This comprehensive 2-day course is a presentation of ultrasonography for Anaesthesiologists . Experts on the subject will present the anatomical and technical aspects of this procedure along with risks, benefits and outcomes.

The course features interactive lecture sessions, fresh anatomical specimen dissection (including cadaveric skills stations, anatomical models ), training videos and case presentations.  Participants will have an opportunity to enhance their knowledge regarding use of ultrasonography.

Educational Objectives

This workshop has been designed to provide the anaesthesiologists with the opportunity to enhance their own skills in a variety of ultrasound guided procedures. The participants will:

  1. Review and perform upper and limb ultrasound guided nerve blocks
  2. Learn and discuss various trunkal blocks,paravertebral and caudal blocks
  • Discuss the techniques of transthoracic echocardiography, chest sonography, gastric ultrasound and intravascular access
  1. Discuss complication avoidance and management

This advanced course is designed for anaesthesiologists , general physicians or ED physicians who are interested in the ultrasound guided nerve blocks and procedures

Day-1 Basic Course

8.30 – 8.45 AM            Course introduction – Faculty and participant introduction

8.45 – 10.00 AM          Lectures (15 Minutes Each)

  1. Basics of Ultrasound-
  2. Interscalene and Supraclavicular approach to Brachial Plexus Block
  3. Infraclavicular and Axillary Approach to Brachial Plexus Block
  4. Upper limb rescue blocks
  5. Trunkal blocks

 10.00- 10.15 AM         TEA BREAK

10.15 AM -12.30 AM    Hands on

12.30 -1.00 PM           Lunch

1.00- 2.00PM         Lectures (15 minutes each)

  1. Femoral and Fascia Iliaca block
  2. Obturator nerve block and Adductor canal block
  3. Sciatic nerve block- gluteal and popliteal approach
  4. Paravertebral block & caudal block

2- 5 PM                       Hands on

Day-2 Advanced Course

9.00 – 10. 00 AM         Lectures (15 Minutes Each)

  1. Transthoracic echocardiography
  2. Chest Sonography
  3. Intravasular access
  4. Gastric Ultrasound

10.00-10.15 AM- TEA BREAK

10.15AM – 1 PM      Hands on
